Your ticket may show two different dollar amounts:
BAIL AMT β What you'd pay to just pay the fine and take the point on your record.
TS BAIL or TRAFFIC SCHOOL BAIL β A higher amount that includes the court's traffic school admin fee. If this field is populated, you're pre-approved for traffic school.
If there's no TS Bail field, or it's blank, you'll need to request traffic school permission separately.
The California Vehicle Code (CVC) section you're cited for. Minor infractions eligible for traffic school typically start with CVC codes like 22350 (unsafe speed), 21453 (red light), 21803 (yield), etc. Major violations (misdemeanors, DUI) are generally not traffic-school eligible.
Some citations have a checkbox or field that says "Traffic School Approved" or similar. If it's checked or marked, you're pre-approved. If blank or marked "No," you need to request permission from the court.
